What are your thoughts? Do you think she should have stayed in prison?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has spoken out for the first time since her release from prison for the murder of her abusive mother.

Blanchard, now 32, was paroled last week – eight and a half years after she persuaded her then-boyfriend to kill her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in a desperate bid to be free of her.

For years, her mother had forced her to pretend that she was suffering from leukemia, muscular dystrophy and other serious illnesses.

Following her release from prison, Blanchard shared two videos on her Instagram about her New Year’s Eve plans and her upcoming projects.

“Hey everyone, this is Gypsy,” she said in a video posted on New Year’s Eve. “I’m finally free!”

She added that she was celebrating the day with her dad, stepmom and her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, 37, whom she reportedly married in 2022 while in prison.

“We’re looking to ring in the New Year together, and it’s gonna be really awesome to have some family time after so long,” she said in a separate video.

My opinion in this case is probably in the minority......I think I would have created a hung jury.
But, I think the girl was justified; at least, her mother should still be in prison; but fat chance of the kid ever accomplishing that. The boy was a patsy, a sucker; I feel sorry for him.

I don't agree that she should be trying to monopolize off of her mother's murder that she partook in. That's not sitting well with me.

According to TMZ, Gypsy wants to discuss with Kim Kardashian a potential prison reform and also seeks advice from the celebrity on how to manage and have a better presence on social media, per the report. Gypsy recently tweeted at Kim Kardashian back in November while she was still locked up, thanking her for recommending the HBO documentary about her, as she said back then that 'maybe we should unite forces together to make real change with the justice system'.

IMO - she's making a good attempt at trying now to 'have a life'. The mother used her like a little tool & the kid grew up thinking that was normal. The mother was purely evil.

Not so much an opinion, but what you're saying is a fact. Her mother was a horrible person.

I don't know where to sit on the entire issue. On the one hand her mother was an absolutely viciously evil person and she deserved to be punished for her actions, but murder...perhaps not. She deserved a long prison sentence, and it's a bit disappointing she won't see that; however, it's also clear that radical action like this had to happen in order for Gypsy Rose to have any chance at getting away from her. So I guess it had to happen, though it took two lives in the process, given the sentence of the boyfriend. I do agree that her now coming out of prison and potentially using her "celebrity" to her advantage in order to parlay her experiences into a book deal and probably beyond that is a bit iffy. But I suppose it's not unprecedented, so...who knows.

I have mixed feelings about this too.

I'm glad she isn't suffering anymore for what her mother did. She didn't deserve that. It just feels weird that she is now becoming an influencer/celebrity after getting released for the murder stuff. Now she has "fans" for this.... um... okay.
