Someone hacked my AOL mail account and sent nasty/porn messages to everyone in my address book

Has this ever happened to you? (

Yep, and also on my twitter account, got mixed reactions, people saying I need to change my password as I go hacked, another sending angry messages and reporting me :/

Change your password frequently, and to ensure it's secure, I'd suggest a password generator:

lol Same here, but I learned the hard way, which isn't really that hard. Just save them to your computer, unless you share your computer with someone who has the desire to hack your email account, and if you do, I probably wouldn't share my computer with them.

But, I also write them down on paper, so that way if my computer goes out, I'll have a backup source so I'll easily recover my passwords/personal data.

Got a message from Yahoo this morning when I went to log in:

Due to suspicious activity on your account, you must reset your password.

Thank goodness, I have nothing on that email account of any value to anyone. I don't even keep names in my email address section. For crap sake, I just changed my password last month to something I thought was very secure. Obviously, I was wrong.

This happen to anyone else?

It happened to me once. On a four-year-old Yahoo account. No sent emails after verifying the account status.

well i was hacked back in 2009 haven't been hacked since(thank god)
that sent every person in my Aol contact at the time
I forgot what
Pretty sure it was virus
still got careful ever since heart bleed bug accident
change my pass and SAQ since then
at any rate i have been using Aol since nov 2004
finally recently mange get spam i had left over as a kid
finally got spam under control still sent time to time somebody scam email like with lotto and such

I got hacked on an old Mario forum in February 2009, where someone made disgusting and disturbing posts. I got my account back, but a day later, I got permanently banned from the forum. One month later, the forum closed up.
