Hacking group Anonymous plotting to 'kill' Facebook

If I were plottting to do something like this, I certainly wouldn't alert the world beforehand. Perhaps this is a bogus date that they have given or perhaps this is a hoax.

As I have said, they've given a date before to websites and commenced to hacking their website on that date, it's not as if they're new to the game, Anonymous has been doing this for several years and regardless of how much people have tried, they've never really got caught. Yes, there was one person that was eventually arrested and was supposedly a member of Anonymous but they could only prove he was a member of Lulzsec.

If you were confident you could beat any type of security and crave attention, you probably would. Now they make the news twice instead of once, twice the amount of attention.

I say, if they're serious about it.

Let them do it.

Besides, Facebook has been killing forums, anyways.

Do any of you care one way or the other?

Well I don't do Facebook so it wouldn't bother me personally.

That doesn't mean I think it's right for people like this to

spoil the enjoyment of others.

There idea is that they need to kill Facebook because it's exposing too much personal information, and even if you delete your profile than the information will still exist.

This.

Facebook may not be a good place to put your stuff, but that means you should file a lawsuit, not hack them.

Doesn't make any sense to me. Facebook can only expose personal information that members themselves exposed...Correct?

Not entirely, but yes.

I believe you could set something up so only specific people can see specific things, but Facebook can see those things regardless so they could expose that.

Not exactly, when you delete your profile, your information is supposed to be gone but in reality it isn't... And because of their privacy settings the information shouldn't be exposed in the first place, other than to people they befriend. Simple truth is... any information you post on facebook is going to become public one way or the other, it's not safe at all, even though facebook says it is.

They store your information. Even personal stuff like private messages between two people, they've got it on record. Also, something from the beginning of Facebook...

Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard

Zuck: Just ask.

Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS

[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?

Zuck: People just submitted it.

Zuck: I don't know why.

Zuck: They trust me

Zuck: Dumb fucks.

The people using Facebook might as well just give out their home address and a map how to get there. Perhaps that's an added feature that will soon be added! *sighs with disgust*

Google maps!

You can share your address on Facebook, right?

I wouldn't know. People who do, IMO, are inviting trouble.

You can do that. Address, phone number, school etc.

That's way to much information and not sure who on earth would list this for anyone to see.

Plenty of people do it. Mainly it's either younger teenagers, or older people who don't really understand how to use the internet that well.

Have any of you provided your address, phone number, school etc.?

I had my college and my mobile number on it. But I had both of them set so that only friends on my IRL list could see it; meaning it was people who already knew that to begin with.
