Soap and water works better.

Heh, I made this topic because someone at work said that hand sanitizer just swooshes the dirt around. :P

It does.

Think about it.

You squirt that stuff on your hands and just rub it around "until it dries" as it says on the bottle.

So, where does the "dirt" on your hands go?

And it also contributes to the development of superbugs.

While working at the hospital, I am constantly using the hand sanitizer dispenser. When I am home, I prefer to use soap and water. There is something in the hand sanitizer that makes my hands very dry.

Isn't it the alcohol in it that dries your hands? I can't use them because my hands dry very easily (even with most soaps) and then I get slight breathing problems because of the dry skin (especially if it's a warm room with dry air).

Sometimes if it's around, used it more on campus when I was exposed to a large group of people on a regular basis.

I hate when I put hand sanitizer on, and I forgot that I had put it on and I will eat something and taste the hand sanitizer.. SO nasty

It does but it kills any germs that might be on the dirt. Myself I carry hand sanitizer by the gallon. Im in different peoples homes all day touching things doing home inspections.

People think that Hand gels are a replacement for soap and water, they are NOT.

I use them sometimes when I am dealing with my step dad. I've seen people wash they're hands then use hand gel. Why?! You have just cleaned you hands!

I am not as crazy as I used to be with the hand sanitizer (but I do still wash my hands a lot) but I'll use it if it's available.

Went with sometimes since that seemed like the best option. I have it on me in case I'm out with friends and we've been out doing stuff and I want to wash my hands before I eat without having to go to the bathroom or if I just finished eating and I feel like my hands are gross after wiping them on a napkin (or five). Pretty much just random little occasions. Other than that though, I don't really use it.

Yeah, since covid, but it's more of if I can't get to bathroom to wash my hands if I'm out on the road. Dirt is everywhere.
