Have you ever fired a real gun?

If so, did you enjoy it? Do you like to shoot at targets or animals? Maybe you go shooting often?

If not, would you like to fire a gun? Would you choose to shoot targets or animals?

When I started with a state agency several years ago I qualified "police marksman" with the .38 special and "sharpshooter" with shot and slug on the 12 gauge shotgun.

Until recently I kept my skills current, but had no need to go through the qualification course again.

So. Yes, I have "fired a real gun".

As for hunting. I used to go until my knee had other ideas.

With target shooting, that's how you qualify. It would seem the range master disapproved of live targets.

Nope never fired one can't recall ever actually seeing one either.

I have fired a real gun on a couple occasions, mainly just for target practice. I didn't kill anything.

How about you, SK, have you ever handled any guns?

I went on a date out in the sticks once. Her dad was a farmer. Came walking towards me holding a shotgun. After a brief greeting he asked me if I wanted to shoot some clay pigeons. I was hitting one after the other, really enjoying it. Felt good to let the weapon off, watching the targets explode. The farmer assumed I'd handled a gun in the past but the closest I had ever got to using any type of gun was at Quasar as a kid. In the distance a flock of real pigeons were coming towards us and the farmer took aim. That is when things went sour in my mind and the fun went away. Thankfully he missed. I think its ok to use a gun for sporting reasons to shoot at non-living objects but when it comes to shooting animals for fun that is when it disgusts me.

What if the person who has gone hunting takes the animal home and uses it for food?

If a hunter must do it to provide for himself or his family then that is a different story. But to shoot an animal just for fun is diabolical.

Yes, I've shot plenty of guns. Not a huge fan of it, but I would if I needed to again. I just hope I don't have to.

I live in a country where I have no need to.

It's not about need, it's about rights, and I exercise my 2nd Amendment rights with vigor.

he lives in australia so what does the 2nd amendment have to do with what he said and this topic? :|
