I grew up on 19 acres of field with no power lines nearby so it was ideal for us & the neighbor kids to fly kites. My husband & I flew one years ago & we enjoyed it at our last house. Have any of you tried to do loops or make games out of it? What about building your own?

I have as a kid, but those days have been and gone and most kids nowadays do not even know what a kite is anymore

I did when I was little. Never got a thrill out of it. So I just didn't do it again.

I have as a kid but never by myself. My dad has always been near me to assist since I was quite young when I flew them. Had some interesting shaped ones as well and not just the plain old kites.

If I didn't get any help, I would have probably ended up like Mr Burns

I remember first flying a kite one breezy spring day many years ago. It stayed aloft for a very long time. I got bored, so I tied it to a piece of playground equipment and played on every playground apparatus in the park. When I had finished my play, I came back and found that my kite was still flying high, I would have preferred to be that kite up there in the sky and looking down at the tops of the trees and houses instead of being the person on the ground wondering what it would be like to fly. Anyway, I got chilly, so I reeled it in and went home.

Yes, all the time when I was younger. It used to be a lot of fun to go out in the backyard and fly the kite with my brother. At least, it was. Until we got the kite stuck on the roof of my dad's garage.

Single line kites are pretty boring I think, maybe fascinating when you are a little kid but that wears off.

I do love playing with two line stunt kites though, they are a LOT of fun.

During my childhood years, my cousins, siblings, and I flew our kites in the countryside. It was fun, and we were the ones who made them, too.
