All too often we see animals that are pets left abandoned by their owned for whatever reason. This then leaves them as stray animals with no home and no one to take care of them. All too often the animal can seem confused and upset and wondering what they did to deserve how they are being treated.

If you ever see a stray animal, have you been known to take them in and take care of them?

Many, many cats when we lived on acreage in the stix. Mostly un'fixed' males; I made a deal with them....I traded beans for their nuts.

This is my furry-friend Queenie.
Before I retired I was working as a van driver and I came across Queenie one day when I stopped down a quiet lane by an abandonded builders yard to have my lunch.
So sitting with the widow open eating my sandwich when I heard a loud "Mi-yah!!" not only did I share my sandwich.... I ended up feeding her for about 2 years.
Although she was feral, and seemed happy enough living in the sheds of the yard, she quite enjoyed company and one day even presented me with a mouse!
Then one day the owner of the yard showed up to clear the land and tooking Queenie home with him.

Never truly crossed paths with a stray.

I've tried to take in stray cats before. It didn't work out. I ended up having to re-home them.

When I was young, a small dog came to our house while we were sitting on the veranda having some snacks. It looked very hungry, so we gave it a little food. After asking around, we found out no one was missing a dog. We kept it in the backyard at first to help it get used to the new environment, and we also cleaned it up. Eventually, we let it run around like everyone else did, as we didn't live in the city.

One day, the dog didn't come back. My father went out to look for it and found the dog not far from the house. It had been poisoned. Unfortunately, that's what happens when people harbor ill will towards your family. We had a suspicion of who did it, but we couldn't prove anything. It was my first pet.:(

Personally, living on my own, I didn't really take in any strays. I did, however, find a kitten with the help of a gentleman to get him out of the bushes, and took it to Dove Lewis. The kitten was fixed up and sent to Cat Adoption Team, which was great. Pretty sure it did get adopted. I also took in a cat who was being abused by its owners. She was with me for maybe less than a year before I found it a good home (couldn't have two pets in my place).

My apartment complex has a bunch of stray cats living outside. We walk around and feed them every night. Some have come and gone over the years.. The cat I have now is one of the first we saw, he just ran inside one day and of course.. he lives here now. I'd let them all in if I could but.. :(

You are 1 that can truly say that the cat chooses!
