Have you killed snakes?

It was about 40 years ago and I was driving in my 1976 Dodge truck. I saw a rattle snack slithering across this country road. I hit the brakes and got my shovel out from the truck box. He bit into the shovel then I let him have it and cut his head off. Then I cut off his rattle and after drying it out a bit hung it from my rear view mirror.

There were so many of the bastards that we had to carry snake kits in our vehicles at work.

I have heard that sometimes a rattlesnake can strike a vehicle tire & cause a flat if you run over them. :angry2:

😮 I lived with someone who had a snake as a pet. A California king snake. I would put him over my shoulders and walk around.
Even knowing that it was a "good" snake, and one to be protected, I still don't think that I could do that. :D

Nope I would never kill a snake and never plan on. I rarely see snakes where I live, I know they are in my state. I love snakes, they don't bother me. I hate spiders though and will gladly kill any spider I see!

Most snakes we just let do what they want to do. Copperheads are generally the only worry around here and it is mostly due to our dogs. We have killed a few, but generally, try other options if possible.

Humans cause more problems than snakes.

So you're just driving out in the middle of nowhere and saw a snake minding its own business. It might have been crossing the street but otherwise was of no danger to anything? Why stop your truck and kill it?

If I was a snake I'd bite your tire too as one last 'F-you' for running me over. lol

You never plan to but you might have to if you or someone else is in danger, if its your only option.

Sounds humane.

They don't but they aren't in control, we are. :P

Why kill a rattlesnake? For the same reason I'd shoot Adolf Hitler or Charles Manson.

Snakes kill out of self defence or because they genuinely don't know better, Neb. Humans do it because they are evil.

Yes, I have killed snakes. They are too dangerous to be allowed to roam freely. A kid was killed by a snake bite in my neighbourhood last month. We are not friendly to snakes here.
