Have you ran a successful forum contest lately?

I'm considering creating some forum contests for my communities.

I've not done them in so long that I'd love to get ideas.

What sort of contests have you an in the past on your forums and which were successful?

What prizes did you offer?

When I ran the GameWinners.com community we ran game giveaways, they were somewhat successful, as they got a decent response. Nothing over the top, just a post here to apply and an rng to draw the winner. It worked for us.

On a forum I used to be a moderator on, they didn't work out much in terms of activity.

I think it depends on your niche. If it's a gaming forum, you could offer steam keys for games, or pretty much if it's any niche you can offer up some gift cards or cash prizes for winners. (That is if your budget can handle that!) I once entered a posting contest on a forum and won $20!

We used to run contests here all the time. I suppose it would be fun to do one again. Our prizes weren't that great. We had a currency system installed here before and we'd just give the winner more useless cash for them to do nothing with. Lol
