When you have people over, do you automatically offer them something to eat or drink?

If you go to someone's house and they offer you something to eat or drink and you don't accept.. Is that rude?

I always offer company something to eat or drink. To me it's just common courtesy.

If I go to someone's house and they offer me something to eat or drink I always accept. I do think it would be rude to decline.

Same here.. Except I dont always offer food and drink to a certain friend because he will be there every day to mooch off me and eat all my food. He also used to sneak into my kitchen and eat my food after Ive told him not to..

Depends on the occasion and who's the company. If it's distant family, then yeah, we'll be having food/drinks to offer them. However, if it's just a friend of mine, we'll hang out and maybe get something to eat if he's hungry, but I don't ask my mom to cook us anything really.
