How the creators of Obama Care and Ezekiel Emanuel must be so proud and hope some day all good citizens will sacrifice there lives for the "GREATER SO CALLED GOOD".

A British nurse with no serious health issues has ended her life at a suicide clinic because, she said, she didn't want to grow old. Gill Pharaoh, 75, said her work in a nursing home revealed the "awful" reality of old age and burdens placed on loved ones and caregivers, theTelegraph reports. "I know that I have gone just over the hill now," she said before going to the Lifecircle clinic in Basel, Switzerland. "It is not going to start getting better. I do not want people to remember me as a sort of old lady hobbling up the road with a trolley. ... All you need to do, at my age, is break a hip and you are likely to go very much downhill from that." Pharaoh says she wasn't depressed, and only had relatively minor health issues like tinnitus and occasional back pain from shingles.

She spent a last evening in Basel with her life partner John that he describes as "tranquil and enjoyable. ... Gill had been thinking about it for years and I had no intention of spoiling it by getting emotional and heavy." Her daughter Caron, also a nurse, admits the decision was hard on her, but Pharaohwrote in a blog that she had to leave on a good note: "I want people to remember me as I am now—a bit worn around the edges and not quite at my peak, but still recognizably me!" She concedes that "people will have different reactions to my choice," but asks that lawmakers "listen to, and respect, the views of people like me, and I am not alone in holding this view." Indeed, a study shows that 611 people went to Switzerland between 2008 and 2012 to medically end their lives.

I don't blame her, given what the costs of long-term elder care can be. That said, as someone who is disabled, I'm not surprised that its' become more widespread.

I once again blame mental illness in our society, lack of love for our elderly and the leftist communist pushing this idea you are useless and a drain on society when you are old. Canada is now pushing this sickness because their crappy government healthcare is struggling.

You are confusing communism for capitalism. Capitalism is the one that holds a person's worth is tied to the value they produce for capital.

It’s really not capitalism values everyone but as you progress to socialism and then communism you have no value being old and are just a burden on the state.

And you are confusing actual capitalism with crony capitalism that has no use for the old..

This you, Serafin?

And he was cleared in the courts. And let’s say he is guilty this is one hospital not a entire government like Canada and government healthcare in general.

No, I am thinking of capitalism. It is a system which prioritizes the logics of capital and the pursuit of ever increasing profits over everything else. It is the framework through which it gives value and meaning to everything. Communism is very critical of this approach to life. It is a human needs based approach. So if the elderly person is wealthy then sure, they are valued under capitalism. However if they are poor then they most definitely aren't.

No, I am thinking of capitalism.

And you would be wrong. Actual Capitalism has created the exact opposite.

It is a system which prioritizes the logics of capital and the pursuit of ever increasing profits over everything else.

No, it prioritizes the best product possible for the maximum profit under competition.

It is the framework through which it gives value and meaning to everything.

Agreed.

Communism is very critical of this approach to life. It is a human needs based approach.

It’s a one peg and hole for everybody and the individual has zero value.

So if the elderly person is wealthy then sure, they are valued under capitalism.

Everyone is valued under capitalism not crony capitalism you keep getting mixed up. The rich make it so it’s more affordable for the middle class and poor the more successful the product becomes. More rich people more poor people reap the benefits.

However if they are poor then they most definitely aren't.
Under communist and socialist control most definitely!

Well if you believe that nonsense I have a lovely country for you in South America where every diet is successful.
:censored: you and the Florida horse you rode in on; I'm not leaving Appalachia, thank you very much....

Of course not because you know capitalism works.
No, I'm not leaving Appalachia, Serafin, because, borrow the words of a certain character from The Wire...
raw

...so you can take your hypocritical comment and shove it :censored: :censored: :censored: ......

Capitalism is all about the pursuit and expansion of capital. Agreed that profit maximization is greatly valued under capitalism. Regardless of the social, environmental and cultural devastation that it leaves in its wake. As much as possible these costs will be externalized so that those who already have wealth and power can entrench and build upon their power. From its origin capitalism has been a hierarchical system. One which marginalizes and oppresses the majority while it enriches and benefits the minority. The anxieties of the nurse make sense within the context of a capitalist world. As people only have value under capitalism when they are understood to be productive and contributing towards the pursuit of capital.

Again, because you know capitalism is the greatest system ever devised for human beings and nothing else comes even remotely close. So embrace it in your state😎

Capitalism is all about the pursuit and expansion of capital.

Capital and society.

Agreed that profit maximization is greatly valued under capitalism.

As it should be it makes everyone’s life better.

Regardless of the social, environmental and cultural devastation that it leaves in its wake.

Not under capitalism but crony capitalism absolutely.

As much as possible these costs will be externalized so that those who already have wealth and power can entrench and build upon their power.

Not under capitalism, because government doesn’t play favorites on who succeeds and fails it’s completely based on the market. Government plays favorites in today’s crony capitalism and people got a very good taste of it during the pandemic that wasn’t hidden like most of it in today’s world.

From its origin capitalism has been a hierarchical system.

No, it’s been who is the best, determined, clever and willing to work harder than the competition with a dash of luck thrown in.

One which marginalizes and oppresses the majority while it enriches and benefits the minority.

No it gives the marginalized a far better than life than any other system we have or had. Healthcare that doesn’t have government involvement like Lasik is now affordable because the rich invested in it by having it done which funded the research to make it more affordable which drove competitors to lower prices. When I got it done in 2006 it was $3000 a eye! It’s around $500 dollars now and pretty much gives everyone a opportunity to have it done.

Flat screen tvs used to cost $30,000 dollars! Thanks to capitalism you can get one for a few hundred.

The examples are endless and only capitalism brought us everything we enjoy with comforts that the poorest Americans make countries look like millionaires compared to many 3rd world countries.

The anxieties of the nurse make sense within the context of a capitalist world.

Not sure what you are talking about here??

As people only have value under capitalism when they are understood to be productive and contributing towards the pursuit of capital.

Yeah, that’s pretty much in every society under any form of government.

Capital and society.
As it should be it makes everyone’s life better.
At what cost? We already run people to the ragged edge just to scrape by but no, we can't have this because the rich fatcats have gotta' have their tax cuts...give me a break.
No, it’s been who is the best, determined, clever and willing to work harder than the competition with a dash of luck thrown in.
As long as the field isn't slanted in favor of the rich fatcats.
Otherwise....

....God Bless the Labor Movement!

At what cost?

Freedom, a equal chance to succeed or fail, a better life, the positives outweigh the negatives.

We already run people to the ragged edge just to scrape by but no,

And we are not doing it under true capitalism so it’s no surprise.

we can't have this because the rich fatcats have gotta' have their tax cuts...give me a break.

Yeah crony capitalism does that.

As long as the field isn't slanted in favor of the rich fatcats.

Then fight to have separation of government and capitalism as loud as people yell separation of church and state.

Otherwise....

....God Bless the Labor Movement!

In the beginning the labor movement was fantastic and needed. But like all things when government dips it’s toes into something it became corrupt and useless for the working man.
