I live Aotearoa New Zealand, which is a small country in the South Pacific. Some of you may have heard of it. Although I would not be terribly offended if you hadn't, as we are not a terribly big force in international relations. We have our little sphere of influence, but that tends to be largely limited to other, smaller, Pacific Nations. Although this is an introduction for me, not my country, so onto me.



I work at a food distribution centre full time. It is here that I am a member of the union, as I believe in the 'union ideals'. Specifically a good day's pay for a good day's work. I see both as holding equal weight. I do not have any respect for workers who are not prepared to pull their weight and contribute to the team effort. I have completed some university study at undergraduate level, although I was unfortunately kicked out at the end of 2009 due to academic under-performance. I have however recently sent an appeal in order to return and complete my degree. If my appeal gets approved, I will return to part time study either this year semester two or semester one of next year. I hope to complete a B.A with a double major in Politics and Social Anthropology with a minor in Development Studies. These are areas which I am passionate about.

Thank you, I find introductions quite difficult to make, so it took me a bit of time to plan this one out. Your compliment is thus much appreciated. Hopefully you are still so optimistic about knowing me after we have had a few exchanges in the debates. As a quick scan seemed to demonstrate that we approach topics from different vantage points to say the least.



With the appeal, I will certainly mention something here if it gets approved. Now I know if it gets approved, I can personally thank you. As it will be a demonstration of your other worldly powers! Fingers crossed I get the response tomorrow.

Normally I do not reply to introduction threads; they are usually very brief and don't tell much about the person. Yours, however, is much more involved and tells me many things about you. I can tell that we will get along quite well, based only on the fact that you very obviously are intelligent! Way too often I come across people who come off as totally thick, oblivious, self-serving and just generally annoying.

I don't see that happening with you. We're glad to have you along and I hope you enjoy your time here!

I can understand your reluctance to normally respond to introduction threads. I spent time on another forum as a member of the staff. For a time one of my responsibilities was to welcome new members. Some of their posts were so short and tedious. This was not helped as one focus of the site was roms. So as you can imagine many people are not exactly so focussed on the community aspect.



I thank you for your compliment. I have noticed your posts and could more than certainly return the compliment. If it helps I do try to see things from different perspectives. To the point where I even buy books by people I disagree with extremely strongly so I can try to understand their stance. I guess you could feel a bit sorry for my former flatmate. So often he would be blissfully minding his own business and I would storm into the living room all you won't believe what ***** just said in their book! It was a running joke that when I got a book by someone I agreed with, it was a monumental moment.

Thank you, I am thinking of a few topics which I wouldn't mind creating. So possibly over the next few days I will get around to creating the first one. I am particularly interested to see what people here have to say on it.

Wasn't sure where else I could post this. An update on the university situation. I got home from work today to find an e-mail concerning it. My appeal was approved! Feeling really pleased right now.
