There was a boy in my class who told me he watched Prawn on the internet. I (stupidly) thought it was a new Disney movie, like the Little Mermaid or something, or maybe that it was a film about fishing . . .

Oh yes, I replied, What was that about then?

He looked shiftily around the classroom to make sure no-one was listening . . . You know, he whispered, S-E-X

Good grief, that's a lot of bunnehs!

There would be war as well, in the fight to be alpha male.

That must be an illegal bunny farm because no good breeder would allow so many bunnies to roam free, knowing there would be a blood bath of a fight, to the death, to be leader of the pack.

Sorry to rain on your parade, Beo.

Yes, of course it is. It's a classic piece of literature.

However, I, personally, choose not to read it again because I find the ending too sad.

It doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it. In fact, I think it belongs to a class of books that everyone should read as a means of discovering a part of our history and where we came from. The Watership Down characters are a part of our national heritage. People know Hazel and Fiver are main rabbit characters, for example. It also tells the story of Myxomatosis and how devastating its consequences were.
