High School Reunions

Have you or will you go to a high school reunion?

My 40th reunion is next year and I'm excited to go! I convinced one of my BFFs to attend with me and I look forward to seeing her over any other person, so we could probably save money and just hang out if it came down to it. I see her every 5 years or so, and we keep in touch by text.

The last one for my class that was set up a few years back ended up getting cancelled because it split into 2 groups. One that only wanted to invite certain people and one that wanted to invite everyone.

I wouldn't mind going for a reunion, but the problem is always with how anyone would want to imagine my life. I don't seek to impress anyone, and that is also why I would want to be careful when it comes to going for high school reunion. If my mood accepts that, I will surely go.

I've never been invited to one. Not sure if I would ever go tho. Everyone I went to school with is a stranger to me now.

I have never attended one because I live in a different city now and I lack the funds to go back to the city where my high school is.

I've never been to my high school reunions. I know there was a 10-year, that I skipped on purpose. I don't know if there was a 20-year or not. My 30-year is coming up this year. I suppose it would be nice to see some people, but the ones I'd want to see probably wouldn't be there.

Why would I want to give them the time of day and put myself back into a situation like that?

I understand people grow up and might be nice... but I think it's too late, and for the person I am today, I would probably tell them to go to hell.

Yep, especially when you meet so many wonderful people away from high school, away from those awful people. No need to go back to those horrible days.

I was a geeky, smart artist when I was in high school. Over the past 40 years, I still have a lot of the same friends and most of us stay in touch on Facebook. But something incredible also happened... I became friends with those who were the "popular" people and I didn't think they liked me back then. One friend passed away about 5 years ago and I miss seeing her online so terribly. She was a snob in high school, but the sweetest person on Facebook. Maybe some of you who were bullied should give people another chance?

I’ve never been to a school reunion since none were ever organised, it just wasn’t a thing where I was back then.
Not sure if it’s more common now with younger people, but even if it were, I live in a different country, so it wouldn’t make sense to travel just for that.

We did have one couple of years ago, but it was organised by the students....
