Isn't it an automatic raise for congress? Maybe paying congress more could be a good idea.... yeah right they will still seek special interest money for campaigns...

I am.

If we paid them 5 million a year each and had publically financed campaigns do you think there would be less corruption?

Or we could just force anybody that serves in the legislature to surrender their entire net worth.

Haha, I watched Zeitgeist and that is where I found out about this particular branch of conspiracies.

The conspiracy goes that the Fed loans money on interest to the Federal government, so whenever money is printed, the government is indebted to the Federal Reserve. Since the Federal Reserve is operated mostly in private the conspiracy goes that the super-rich control it so that they basically have control over the nations economy. In Zeitgeist they promote the view that the rich bankers (of the post-industrial era or of the gilded age as coined by Mark Twain) like Rockerfeller, J.P. Morgan etc etc, orchestrated recessions and financial scares using the federal reserve in order to make money. And that they were able to get people elected, so that the nation would go to war, so more money would be spent and so the fed would make more money. And at the end of the segment of Zeitgeist they talk to a radio host who had befriended one of the Rockerfellers. And apparently circa 2000 A.D., this guy told the radio host that the U.S. was going to go into Afghanistan, and then Iraq, and Venezuela...

But I believe the whole Federal Reserve conspiracy is killed by the fact that all profits made by the Federal Reserve are given to the U.S. Treasury at the end of each fiscal year.
