Depends on how they look. Hitch hiking is a 50/50 thing due to the risk, but when it goes off without a hitch, it can be really fun to talk with people and learn about them.

We had a case last year where a beautiful, young (early 20s) girl was luring men to pick her up. She'd give them an address, and when they arrived there'd be someone with a gun waiting to rob them.
 
I don't drive, but even if I did, I wouldn't give someone a ride, and I wouldn't jump into just anyone's car either.
I'd rather walk and take my chances with wild animals. Both can be dangerous.
