Talk about a Halloween scare.

A prankster in an upscale San Francisco neighborhood put up a fake notice that Hooters was moving in and applying for its liquor license, S.F. Eater reported.

A counterfeit Alcoholic Beverage Control application for change of ownership was spotted Saturday in the stroller- and -cafe-filled Noe Valley area, at a bar that closed last year after a fire. But a quick bit of detective work uncovered the hoax. Eater noted that there's no application on file for the so-called "Neighborhooters." The report also pointed out a flaw on the notice: the listed corporate name of "Hooters, LLC" is bogus; it would correctly be "Hooters of America, LLC."

The jokester got at least one compliment for his efforts:

@NoeValleySF please help decode. The power of the twitterverse is needed. Hooters??

Noe Valley SF @NoeValleySF
.@ErosResmini Looks like a prank? Nothing on the ABC website as of right now.

We Built This City @TheRealWBTC
.@NoeValleySF @ErosResmini Also, the corporate name is Hooters of America, LLC. Great prank though!

Trick or treat indeed.

Hooters, a "breastaurant" chain known for its chicken wings and waitresses in skimpy outfits, closed an outlet at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco in 2011; though San Francisco has since remained Hooters-free, there's a location in nearby San Bruno.

Would you want a Hooters restaurant in your neighborhood?

Do you ever go to Hooters?

Me and my wife enjoyed going to the Bayside Hooters in Ocean City, Maryland.

Their steamed seafood platter was always very good.

The one in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore was always too busy, we went once, and never went back.

Also, we went to the one in Williamsburg, VA for dinner with a friend of mine and his wife and had a very good time.

Every time I went with my wife to OC, and the one in Williamsburg, the fact that I was with a woman meant we got Excellent service. Usually including the manager stopping by for a chat.

I've also been to the one in Rockville, MD with some guys from a class I was attending who used the excuse that it happened to be my birthday, which was on the class registration paperwork and the instructor noticed, to go. There was a group of us, the teacher paid for my dinner, and we won the trivia contest they were having that night. I still have the autographed 'hooters' hat.

It should be noted, MOST waitresses do NOT look like the ones above, even in costume, which does include skin-colored pantyhose.

As far as I can remember, I've never just had 'wings and beer' in one of their restaurants.

I've never been to a Hooters. I did see the one in San Francisco (Fishermans Wharf) that they mentioned above but I never went inside, just peeked through the windows.

There's a Hooters nearby, but I never go to it. We went to one every now and then when I lived in California, but it's nothing to write home about unless you're obsessed with titties.

I've never had the opportunity to go to a Hooters. I think it would be fun though. :D

I don't think we have 'em here. So, maybe?

I wonder if there are any franchises similar to Hooters in other countries. I know there is in Japan where they have sluttly, hot looking maids serving you in a restaurant.

Turns out Hooters is an international franchise... but it doesn't seem to exist here.

Hooters? I heard of it. Doesn't exist anywhere in my country, as far as I know. :unsure2:

If you look beyond the hype, it's just another restaurant. Complete with overpriced 'promotional items' and gimmicks.

My wife and I have gone to several of their locations for meals, we really liked the one 'bayside' in Ocean City, MD. And once a few years ago, we went with another couple to the one in Williamsburg, VA for dinner.

Their steamed seafood platter is quite good. And you can make a meal from appetizers and have a good time.
