How can you tell when someone has entered a building or is in the room without actually seeing them? With our pastoral minister, it's pretty obvious. He has a pretty contagious laugh, so the second that starts up, then you know he's in the church somewhere (even if you don't know where he is right away). I used to do volunteer hours at our local courthouse doing mail, and with mine and my mom's lawyer, it was kind of a similar situation, although it wasn't with laughing, it was with singing. Our lawyer is part of a local religious singing group, so he's actually a singer on the side, and there were days when I would be helping with mail and you could hear him sing as he's coming up the steps. Like our minister, this man pretty much has a voice that projects, as they say, so it was quite easy to tell when he was in the room or if he was even around at all.

If the rooms quite then I listen for footsteps or creaks. Works well when my sister tries to sneak up on me.

I have a very keen sense of smell. I know who wears what perfume or cologne and what shampoo/soap as well. Some people are amazed when they try to sneak up on me and without turning around, I will greet them by name.
