I have realized from my expectations that forum conflicts are a thing. Handling the online conflict with the strangers is a bit of a skill in itself. And we can learn a lot from those type of the discussions. I wonder how the mods and the admins learn about the forum conflict and it's management.

How do you handle some of such in your forum?

It’s a tough call. Agreeing to disagree is fine but when someone makes it personal to another, that is where boundaries need to be set. If there is an issue, I do it privately. I don’t believe in publicly humiliating anyone, even bullies because then I’m no better than they are. If they are still disrespectful after being given warnings, they will either be suspended or banned.

Sometimes a little conflict is okay, keeps things interesting I suppose. If the members disagreeing with each other are getting too crazy and crossing the line then they might need a temporary timeout or moderator approval put on their posts until they cool off.

I pull the Obi-Wan Kenobi maneuver and take the high ground, but stand ready to cut down anyone who tries to get a jump on me. God, how I love making Star Wars references. :D

My group is pretty relaxed. Everyone comes from some other forum that wasn't what myself and then were looking for. There have not been any issues that call for me to do some banning. With that said, if there was, I don't tolerate foolishness. I've seen stuff that has happened other places and I swore that if(before I made my own place) I made a group of my own I would handle it before it could even get out of hand. As an administrator, it's my job to make my members feel safe and happy in the community.
