I get weirded out people you don't know are all trying to hug me. I'm not trying to be rude, first contact can be a hello or a handshake. Both will suffice.

Agreed. The only time I'd hug a stranger is if they were in distress and were okay with me giving them a hug.

Take a step back, hold out my hand for a shake. It's uncomfortable.

I rarely do handshakes anymore. It's a great way to spread diseases and a lot of people don't wash their hands. The last person who shook my hand left a wart on it that I had to cut and burn off.
