How do you overcome (...)

I'm 23 years old and I don't think I need to be doing it anymore.

So how do I overcome the urge to do it and stop myself from doing the physical action.

(for those too confused to understand, good, your too young to know what I'm talking about.)

Masturbation?

Its a normal thing to do for people of all ages. If you don't want to do it anymore, find yourself a sexual partner.

Well I'm not at the stability right now where I could find a sex partner. That's why I was looking for more help...

Why do you feel the need to want to stop? How will this improve your life in any way?

Well I don't need to stop completely, but I've as of late been increasing the frequency of it. Like 2x/day on some days and 1x/day some days. I want to cut it down to 2x/week most...

Well the only thing I can advise is to use your will power.

Orgasms are good for you. They release a lot of tension and put you in a better frame of mind.

Unless it in interfering with normal life... such as the urge to go for it while in a public situation or you can't stop thinking about it while driving or something... then it is a normal expression of sexual urges and a release of those energies in a fairly harmless way.

Those who say that such activity isn't normal, is something to make fun of, or is even sick in some way have their own issues to work through and should mind their own business and quit trying to run someone else's life.

While it is a known fact that males do it more than females, it is common to both sexes and is seen in both well into middle age with only a slight decrease in occurrence.

Studies of the subject, with somewhat boring abstracts and white papers, can be found at several medical school websites if you go looking for it.

Other information can be had by looking for the research by Masters and Johnson, and even some from Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

Enjoy the reading.

Keep yourself occupied I suppose, to keep your mind of it. Maybe get yourself a new hobby?

As far as I know, it's quite common to be doing it most days. There's nothing wrong with it unless, as already said, it's interfering with your life. If you really feel a need to stop, why not see a doctor?
