We don't live in peaceful times. We spent almost 20 years dealing with the Middle East after 9/11. We're currently involved in another cold war with Russia by backing Ukraine. North Korea is gearing up to go to war with us and Japan and has been making severe threats for 13 years now since Kim Jong Un rose to power. If we go to war with North Korea, Russia and China will get involved. Also, China wants to invade and assimilate Taiwan. China already states that Taiwan, an ally of the US, belongs to them and if the US gets involved...we'll be sorry.

Of course I know about those, I live very close to Ukrainian borders. But still I think these are relatively peaceful times, because it can get much worse i.e. WW III, global catastrophe or even collapse of current civilization...

Peaceful times means no war. My country is at war.

Peacetime is a period of time during which a country is not at war.

We certainly are heavily involved in wars in foreign places; and seems like we've always been sticking our nose into other peoples' quarrels.
There's sure a lot of domestic chaos here in the U.S.; but I wonder if maybe what @Sylwira is talking about is that most of us here participating in this forum are enjoying a "peaceful" daily routine.
We can see the pictures, but I think that it's really impossible for us to imagine living our daily lives in a war zone, like a lot of Ukrainian families are right now.

Yes, that's why I used the world 'relatively', of course by no means I think that the entire world is at peace now (was there ever a time like this?), but sill most of people on Earth don't have to worry about their tomorrow.
I'm talking about some really extreme events that will actually affect life of all people of the world.
I have a reason to ask such question, but I'll write about it later. Firstly I want to know some of your opinions.
