If You Start a New Project or Hobby and Aren’t Excelling at It, How Long Until You Give It Up?

If you try your best and you don’t succeed, do you just give up? It’s rare to pick up a new hobby and be perfect at it on the first try. Why are we so quick to beat ourselves up over being beginners?

I have encountered challenges in all of the things that I have started in the past and I was right not to give up. I believe that it is proper that people starting projects wait to see how they are going to cope before deciding to give up because it is never easy from the start.

Unfortunately I give up. Maybe pick it up again a few weeks or years later and try to remember my mistakes. I also have lots of "nearly done" things, as if proof of concept was as far as I would go.

If I pick up something new I am pretty determined to learn everything I can about it. It is hard to find a new interest in the first place for me.. So when I find one, I nose dive in.
