How many cats do you have ?

Just one who is very old now. She's deaf and blind but still manages to get around.

Because all he does is make a mess and doesn't seem to want any attention from us anymore.

What kind of mess? How long have you had him and how old is he?

He always gets into things.. Shreds loafs of bread, knocks over trash cans, knocks all the litter out his box, etc..

Ive had him for 4 years.

Sounds like he's bored and just does this to get attention. Four years is a long time to just get rid of him

Does he also go outside?

I don't have any which is probably a good thing considering I'm allergic.

I am going to make him an outside cat. If he runs away, then I wont be too heart broken.

Please don't do that. If you truly can't take him any more then at least try and find him a good home. That's cruel to just open the door and shove him out.

Have you tried to contain him to only one room while you're not home? Does he have toys to play with?

How is it cruel to make a cat go outside? Its not like I am not going to feed him anymore or not pet him if he wants attention (which is rare now a days).

If they are not used to going outside then all sorts of bad stuff can happen to them. He might get scared and just take off and get lost. Hey, it's your cat and your decision. I just could never do that if he were my cat. God luck and hope it works out for both you and your cat.

I have 2 but I have had cats since I was a child so I've had a few over the years
