Okay, what I mean is, say if there's no one around to post, how often do you update your topics to keep your board from looking dead. I've been trying to find something new every day to talk about, and I try to do all boards too, so that it at least looks active and that topics are current. I'll probably do this until we really start getting active, and I'l lstill be around to post, but once members start posting more, then we'll be good to go.

Oh, so you delete a thread, and recopy it? I haven't went through that effort before. As long as you have new posts in each section, a few old don't matter. I mean-- there's threads on here that haven't been posted in for months. As long as there are new threads, it doesn't matter too much. And then, if a person does want to post in those older threads, they can.

But like the Forum Games, I put the old thread in the archive and I just started a new thread. And I archived some of the old intros as well, as one of my members replied to someone's intro thinking the member made the reply on December 20th, when it was really made on July 20th, so I archive the old intros. And of course, banned members' intros automatically get archived. No sense in replying to a member who's been banned, that's for sure.
I dont care if they are old or not, I'll always update threads. I found a thread about a band the other day.. the last post was in 2006 or something. I would rather bump the thread and create a new one about the same topic.

well i am someone that thinks that it is stupid to not gravedigg and in my rules i say you are allowed to gravedigg and that it is very well respected on my forums.
so i just take a shovel and dig up a few topics that i think would be interesting for the members, who have been around recently. and it does work.

Abso-bloody-lutely! Completely agree with this chap (lady?). Digging up old topics on forums can start a posting revolution, if luck is with you. Sometimes there seems to be a race on, with members creating new topics left right and centre, and so its pretty easy for some topics to slip under the radar. Digging them up again might seem like you're recycling, but it really can help
People who flip out over someone posting a valid post in an old topic is retarded IMO. I don't see the logic in how having multiple topics discussing the same thing are needed in almost all cases. I suppose some examples like topics discussion a holiday that was being celebrated at the time or a birthday are some that I would expect to get an unique topic for each year it's celebrated.

Since I run a comic book board. I usually have to make new threads when it comes to comic news. But, we have comic review threads in certain areas that are only messed with once one of the members or even staff has read that particular comic. So we never have to make a new thread concerning that comic.
