In northeast China last Sunday, a 9-year-old girl gave birth to a healthy 6-pound baby boy. The identity of the father has not yet been released, although the police have reportedly been contacted.

According to news.com.au in Australia, the baby was delivered by cesarean section at a Changchun hospital, and both the mom and newborn are doing well.

Sadly, she is not the youngest girl to deliver a baby, according to other published reports. Two girls in Peru, ages 5 and 8, are both on record as giving birth to children of their own.

How young is too young to be a mom? What do you think this newborn's life will be like given this kind of beginning?

9's way to young in my opinion. The poor child may grow up thinking that its grandmother is it's mother. Not to mention that there is a chance thet both mother and daughter may go to the same school, thats if they go to school in China.

I'd say if a person is unable to get a job and support the child then they have no business having one.

Not a certain age; just when they can financially support the baby, and have enough time to spend time with them.

How can someone even have a baby at age 5?

Why does all this weird shit usually happen in China?

Nine is way too early. I would say.... probably around 16. But the correct answer is whatever age where the mother can take care of her child and (ideally) where there will be a father who will help provide for the child.

In my opinion 18 is the youngest you should be a mum. Any younger and they usually won't really be ready for independent motherhood and a lot of fathers leave when under 18.

I'm not sure I agree with you on this Smooth, I'd say around 20 is about the minimum age to have a baby. My sister had a baby last month and she is 20 years old, she has a decent car and a decent house, she moved out when she was 16, she doesn't really wait around. She's doing a great job as a mother and I don't see any reason as to why she shouldn't of had one at her age, she's gone on plenty of holiday's and seen a lot of countries, she's never been one for clubbing, and will still have the chance to go out as she has a very close family to support her.

Just curious here Mike. Was this a planned pregnancy? I don't see any mention of the baby's father either. Is she married or doing this alone?

I think it was planned yes, She isn't married (want's to get married in 2014). The father is around and won't be going anywhere, they've been together for 7 years and live together

I'm glad the father is there for her and the baby. It's also nice to know she has a very supportive family. I hope things work out the way she wants them to.

Neuter your kids.

Thank you society for teaching our kids to be sexaholics.

Also out casting the ones that aren't.

Fuck you.

Isn't it more sensible (and quicker) to neuter their idols?

Maybe if we got rid of their rights, choices, and mind... then it's a possibility.
