Do we live in the same place? You’re not in California are you?
Believe it or not - probably not your idea of Washington state (east of the Cascades)

Oh, Washington is cool. I have a family member in Portland and a friend in Seattle. I’ve been in the little towns around Seattle too (Everett, Bellevue, Lynwood) but that’s about it. Are you near there?

No, on the other side of the Cascade mountain range; near the Columbia river......absolutely no comparison to the costal climate or geography: Summers are much hotter and winters are much colder compared to the western half of the state. The average summer highs are in the upper 80s to mid 90s (27° to 34° C) and in winter, average daytime temperatures can range from the upper 30s to just above 0° F (3° to -17° C). In terms of geography, Central Washington is almost plains-like, giving way to rolling hills as you travel east.

Do you like living there?
Yes; I like the seasonal changes in the climate, and the vastness of the treefruit orchards (apples, cherries, peaches, plums, apricots) is amazing. Seattle is beautiful, but that whole area sucks; I think their crime rate has become totally unmanageable and surpassed Chicago & Detroit. It used to be a nice place to visit but not any more.

That’s how I feel about San Francisco, so dangerous there now.
