With deer hunting season about to start here, it got me to thinking about hunting. Some people think hunting is a sport. Some people think that hunting is cruelty to animals.

What are your thoughts on hunting?

Are you a hunter?

Would you hunt if you had the opportunity?

I used to.

I'd like to again.

I used to work with a woman who was anti-hunting. She even went out to protest deer season a couple of times.

Then she hit a deer with her car on her way to work one day. All but totaled her car, and hurt her because it partially smashed her windshield.

One of the things she said was somebody needs to keep the deer population in check. But she was still against hunting. She thought that Natural Resources could get the deer to take birth control.

No. Really, she did.

Yeah, liberal hypocrite.

I'd like to make it very clear that I am not against hunting. With that said, I would never be able to shoot and kill any animal for hunting purposes. The only time I could shoot and kill an animal is if I were threatened and had no option.

Kind of going contradict myself here because I am totally against hunting preserves. To me, fencing in animals where they have no way to escape is one of the cruelest things that could happen to them. Do you agree or disagree?

I haven't hunted before, and though I'm all for animal rights, I'm pro-hunting and believe hunting is necessary to keep a balance. Of course that doesn't mean eradicating a whole species, just kill what you need to kill to keep you or your family well fed.
