IE 8 is working fine for me, but I can't get Google Chrome to load any webpages (not even the default google.com).

I don't understand why that is.

I've checked for viruses by my antivirus program and an online scanner and I'm clean according to them so I don't understand where this is coming from.

I've tried uninstalling and installing Google Chrome several times but to no success.

I'd like to get use of Google Chrome back.

It says I'm using version 8.0.552.224.

Thanks,

Andy.

Does it say something like this when you start Chrome?

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

If so, I looked into it and found these two theorized problems:

[quote]A. Sometimes, trigger-happy antivirus software is conflicting with Google Chrome's ability to run it's renderer process. To check, turn your anti-virus software off temporarily and try running Google Chrome again. Does that work? Do you have the latest upgrade of your antivirus software? If not, please upgrade to see if that resolves the issue.

Software that has been reported to conflict:

Spyware Doctor

Comodo firewall

McAfee Enterprise

Symantec Endpoint Protection

B. Do you have Symantec Endpoint Protection installed? If so, please upgrade to SEP 11 MR4.http://www.google.co...008121712452848
Hope this helps. Chrome's pretty awesome.

I don't know how to help you, then. Maybe try installing it on a different drive?

It sounds like it could be a graphics plug-in issue, perhaps, but I'm better at diagnosing with sight rather than by word, unfortunately. Is your Java, Flash, etc. up to date? With Chrome, you can look in the settings to adjust your Flash settings and storage. You should also make sure your computer is allowing websites to store at least basic information in the browser, otherwise certain website just won't load.

The only solution that worked for me was re-installing Windows 7 and then re-installing Chrome.

I did a AV boot run with Avast, and it found 3 files that were corrupt but since it didn't take care of them and just continued booting to windows, I figured a reformat and reinstall was in order.

So now I'm back in business.
