Scenario: You are flat broke and you find a wallet on the sidewalk. You look around and there is nobody around you. You pick up the wallet and open it. Inside you find $500 and an ID card. The ID card belongs to an elderly woman and lists her address.

What would you do with this wallet?

The moral decision would be to give it back. But if I found $500... damn, that's rich to me. The sad truth is, greed would take over and I would take the wallet.

I did find a wallet a couple years ago. It was down the street from work. I saw it laying in the middle of the street so I pulled over to look at what it was. It was a wallet, I opened it and saw on the ID that it belonged to my co-worker. I know this co-worker walks to work so she probably dropped it. Just to be curious, I looked in side and saw that there was $300 in cash in there. I wont lie and thought about keeping it for a second, but I did take it back to her. She was so overjoyed and happy. She had very important things in there I suppose. She also gave me $50 for being honest.

Great example where honesty really worked out for you. She lost her wallet, you returned it, and in the end, you received $50 you never had. Sure, you, or anyone for that matter, could of stole it, but then you'd face criminal charges if caught, and plus, it's completely wrong.

As far as to answer the question, I could care less how much money is in that wallet, I would return it. I hate liars and thieves, and never could see myself doing that. I mean, if you lost your wallet, would you want someone to return it to you?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I promise you, it'll pay off. Let's take Nebulous for example, if he loses his wallet, karma will return it to him safely.

I would make an attempt to contact the owner. If no contact can be established, I shall hand it over to the police - cash and all.
