Ice Skating

We are going to go ice skating today. My daughter has been asking me to take her because she's never done it before.

We dont have a place in our town but after doing a little research, I found out there is one in a town 20 miles from here. I thought I was going to have to drive all the way to the big city.. Which I would not mind, but its raining and that would limit other things we could do while we were there.



Have you ever been ice skating? Do you like it?

I used to go ice skating every week as a child and I absolutely loved it.



Sadly the local council closed both our ice rink and our Lido and now we have none. It's such a shame. My kids have never been ice skating either.



However, a couple of places locally do set up ice rinks just for Christmas so I think I'll have to take my daughter there as she's desperate to go.



Make your little one wear gloves because you fall over a lot to start with and that ice is cold!

I love to ice skate

. I am fortunate in the fact that I live in a ski resort area. We have two large indoor ice skating rinks. We also have one of the largest lakes in the tri-state area. Each year, they clear large sections of the lake for ice skating. If I don't feel like traveling, I have a decent sized pond on my property that I clear and I skate there. Ice skating is tons of fun and a great source of exercie as well.

I really don't have any inclination to learn either...

Haven't ever gone ice skating per se, and probably never will, but I have skated on ice by way of playing sledge hockey.

I actually stopped by the store and got some gloves for her because of this post. I wouldnt have thought of it.

Glad I did because other kids there had no gloves there and they did not look very happy.



Anyway, we had fun. We were slipping and falling all over the place but still had fun. I only fell once though. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time Ive ever been and the 1st time she's ever been.

She was getting very frustrated at 1st but they had buckets and cones on the ice. We grabbed a couple buckets and stacked them on top of each other so she could have something to hold on to, to keep her from falling. After she got comfortable she tried skating without holding onto the buckets or daddy and was able to skate a little bit before falling.
