The worst case scenario is always zombies.
I would easily commit suicide. Join them as zombies.
Life wouldn't be worth living. Living without any rules, aim, or direction, just to survive.. Not how a human being is intended to live. Besides there would be no point in surviving. Kind of fatalistic, but no matter how long you'd manage to survive, something else will take you down.

...As depressing as this sounds, you seem to have a point.
You have to look at them as a dead body being controlled by a virus as if it were a puppeteer moving a puppet around. Once you got that thought squared away, the choice is clear as to what you should do.
So If someone has dementia or a disease that makes them unwillingly hurt those around them would it be the same choice?
People on drugs walk the street like zombies and pose a risk to others, would the choice be the same?
