great full moon party tonight with 'one heart beat', a local percussion band i've been playing with lately. next saturday is the mermaid parade and sunday is a big benefit for randy clamons, the leader of a dead cover band called 'top dead center'. randy had a heart attack a couple of months ago and the community is pulling together to put on a benefit concert for him. i donated some jewelry for the silent auction.

being part of a dynamic community of heads again is really exciting. i've been in the doldrums since 1999. austin artists were way full of themselves and didn't pull together at all.

I hope he does too, but if he doesn't, he doesn't. He was going over the financial plan for his trip in October and he let it slip that he was putting back x amount for a ring. We've been talking about getting engaged for a while, but he wants it to be a surprise. He has mentioned (when we were in a fight) that he wanted to ask me to marry him the next time he comes over... I'm just not sure if he will ask this visit in October or not cause again, he wants to surprise me. He might have abandoned that idea cause I hate surprises.

he played the week after his heart attack in the hundred degree heat and carries a defribrillator around with him. he's a carpenter and hasn't been able to work at that. the medical bills are piling up on them.

Are you going to play on stage with them?

i got up with them on the fourth of july to do the star spangled banner. what a sorry mess that was. none of them knew the tune and the horn refused to play across the B flat, B and C which is where the chord change is. i need to work up a few grateful dead tunes and get on with them for a whole set this fall sometime.

they get heart patients right back up and at it these days. bypass surgery especially. a friend of mine had surgery on friday last week and was back on his feet by sunday.
