I'm sick of new forums.

I'm tired of seeing nothing but RPG forums on the Jcink forum software. The Jcink Directory my friend built is living proof that Jcink is a majority of RPG boards. I wish there would be a wider selection.

I thought about adding a RPG forum here, I believe we used to have one at some point but I deleted it for lack of interest. If there's an interest in the subject, maybe I'd re-add it. #Hmm

I respect your opinion of course. I've had quite a few "PG13" forums but they always bottomed out. The main reason being, I was using free scripts which were all shit. I couldn't afford $140 for a XF license until just recently. I've been saving up (I am poor).

I spent $140 on dinner the other night (at a nice restaurant).

He's talking about adding a forum on the board not creating another board altogether. It's rather unfortunate that the word forum has dual meanings which creates confusion. It's why I would intentionally refer to Off Topix as a board and the forum discussion section as a forum to help mitigate that confusion.

It's OK as mistakes happen. Just thought I would correct it. A RPG forum on a board like this can work though so it's not the worst idea as it really depends on the people you have and their interests. The better you know your community, the better your ideas will be as you can tailor them better to who goes to your board as opposed to just looking at what other people do which might not yield good results as the people who go there are different and the dominant interests of the community at large can be different from board to board. A dominant interest in this case is one that is held by a sizable amount of the regulars who go there and doesn't need to be a majority.

This was a main reason why Brandon kept supporting IF for so long until eventually the staff managed to convince him to drop it to focus on ZB (although it was far too late by that point anyway). No matter what we tried, most active boards on IF were RPG boards that refused to move to ZB because of things such as HTML in posts, and I wouldn't be shocked if a large number of those boards moved to Jcink after the TT switch since they're the same software. If it's anything like IF was, people see a large number of RPG boards on the software, and decide to pick that for their own RPG board because they see it's popular with the genre and also gives them ideas for what they can do for their own board.
I recall there were attempts to even figure out ways to get things RPG boards liked about IF converted in some way to ZB whether it be through codes or whatever, but nothing ever managed to convince many people to switch. Likely for the best since any boards left on IF would've had a shot at getting their DB's officially, unlike ZB boards.

Now days I enjoy it when a new forum comes along. I know it's frustrating when you want to join a forum but months later you find out it shut down. Even recently I noticed a forum being promoted elsewhere that the owner kept taking down and kept renaming it every time it came back up. It was odd, I guess maybe they broke their host's terms of service and kept trying to make the forum under a different domain name but kept getting caught and eventually they just gave up on the project.
