I was hoping I could get some insight from some of the Kiwi's I noticed around here.

I'm going to be in Wellington from February 10th to the end of June, studying at the Victoria University of Wellington. What is Wellington like/what is the school's rep/etc?

Since this is discussion, has anyone studied abroad before, in a totally foreign place a totally foreign university? Without knowing anyone...

That is totally cool. I've never been to New Zealand, but it sounds like a once in a lifetime experience.

Yeah, it hopefully will be.

Wellington is a fantastic city. It is the a lot of the time wet and windy, so a bit different from Florida.

Victoria uni is one of the top universties in the country. It has some of the best and brightest lecturers from around the world there. I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.

Good luck! I've thought of this, but I don't think I could be that far away from family. For 8 of my 11 years in university, I have to stay 2 and a half hours away. That, and I want to be fluent in the law of my own country.. So education abroad didn't work..

But best of luck to you! It should be a memorable time. Have fun.

Thanks. I just recently heard how it rains a lot there. That's okay though, some rain never hurt anyone

Thanks dude. The only law you need to be fluent in - drinking age is like non-existent

I'm literally an hour away from wellington.

What are you studying at Vic? I've been there a few times, and their facilities are brilliant - especially their Psych stuff. Love it all.

Wellington itself... is windy. It's reknowned as the windy city in NZ, but it has a good culture, and it's got a good mix of anything and everything going down.

Hope this helped some...

It's good to know I'll know some people around me then

I'm going to be studying a mixture of things...a computer science class, a sociology class, a music class, and possibly an intro to New Zealand history. Since I'm only there for one semester, I want to take a range of classes.

Thanks for the comment - it all helps me get ready for this new experience
