You get on a bus or plane or boat..

You are in a bus or plane or boat (if you are on the phone and they ask you where you are at)

But I'd normally say I'm going on a bus.

I would suppose that you do technically get in a busbut I generally say that I'm getting on a bus.

When you're in, you're in. And err, I'm getting on the boat. I'm getting on the plane, I'm getting in the car. I'm getting on the bus, I'm getting on my bike, I'm getting in the spaceship. I don't know. >.>
