Insomnia is a symptom which can accompany several sleep, medical and psychiatric disorders, characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep and/or difficulty staying asleep. Insomnia is typically followed by functional impairment while awake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insomnia

Do you or someone you know suffer from Insomnia?

I have constant difficulty going to sleep and staying asleep.

So I guess I do...

I don't know anyone else who has it.

Yeah I suffer from Transient insomnia.

Yes I do, So does my mum.

I don't but my friend does and I might now start suffering from it

When she can't sleep, she makes phone calls not realizing what time it is when she's doing this

I now have my answering machine on at night but it still wakes me up. I've asked her not to call my house after a certain hour but she has numbers stored on her phone and she just hits dial. I borrowed her phone last week and erased my number

I suffer here and there from it, sometimes I wake up early and cannot get back to sleep.

sometimes falling asleep is a hassle as well....I think it boils down to having to much on your mind.

Nope. Give me a pillow and I'm out. I sometimes have trouble sleeping, but it's because I'm watching TV, and not that I can't actually get to sleep at a decent time.

I have insomnia, but I don't suffer from it. Because I hate sleeping and love staying up forever and ever!

If I cant sleep I take a couple sleeping pills. The generic wal mart brand works just fine. Either that or take a shot of ny quil (cough syrup)..

Its only once in a while when I do that because I dont know if they are addicting or not.

My mum used to take sleeping pills for years, took her ages to get off them.

Sleep aids (OTC or prescription) and Nyquil are all addicting, some severely. Use with caution!

I dont konw how anyone would want to be addicted to something that made them sleepy. i'd rather be addicted to something I'd have to be awake to enjoy.

Just kidding.

If there's already a thread like this. My apologies. For some, they are affected by this. Often causing them to have sleeping problems and other issues. For those of you who experience this. How do you deal?

Yes I do, I'm currently taking 10mg Diazepam to be able to fall asleep. Not the best solution but it'll have to do for now.

I struggle with heavy insomnia constantly. I have done since June 2010. I don't take anything for it, as there's no real point. Doctors refuse to give me a prescription, so I self-medicated myself for a while, which led to an addiction to various over-the-counter and prescription drugs (I was dealing with a broken leg at the time). Because of my work schedule, sometimes I'm forced to stay awake for two days or so, as I go to work during the night, and then again the next morning.

I'll probably have it until I die.
