(CNN) -- Interpol issued a global alert to its 188 member countries Thursday, warning of a strong likelihood of violent attacks if plans for a Quran burning in Florida go ahead.

Although there are currently no specific details as to what forms of terror attacks would follow, what is clear is if the Quran burning goes ahead as planned, there will be tragic consequences, ones which may well claim the lives of many innocent people, Noble said.

Interpol warns of global terror threat if U.S. Koran burning continues next week on 9/11 and Obama has warned that overseas troops face increased threat as tension increases.

He has the right to do it.

I'd be interested in whether he'd have the balls to do it in Afghanistan:dork:

Some nutjob priest thinks he's making a statement by burning the holy book of the Islamic faith because he's one of those morons who thinks all Muslims are terrorists or that the people involved in terrorism are even true Muslims which they aren't.

What that idiot don't get is that his actions will have consequences all over the globe as footage of the event gets turned into high quality advertising material to recruit more people to become terrorists which is why no one wants him to do it and thankfully there are city laws that prohibit the public burning of anything so he might not do it after all which I hope he don't.

Update:

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – As thousands of Afghans protested a tiny Florida church's plan to burn the Muslim holy book, the church's pastor said he won't follow through with the burning if he's able to meet Saturday with the organizers behind a mosque planned near ground zero in New York.

In Afghanistan, at least 11 people were injured Friday in protests.

Police in the northern province of Badakhshan said several hundred demonstrators ran toward a NATO compound where four attackers and five police were injured in clashes. Protesters also burned an American flag at a mosque after Friday prayers. In western Farah province, police said two people were injured in another protest.

Speaking to NBC's Today show, the Rev. Terry Jones said if he meets with the imam in New York, he won't burn the Quran. It wasn't clear if he meant the burning would be halted indefinitely or just for Saturday.
