iPods going extinct?

With phones getting more and more battery life and having all same functionality as an iPod, do you think the iPod (and mp3 players like it) will eventually go extinct?

I don't trust my phone to last longer than a few hours without being charged, so no, I don't think they're going extinct just yet. I don't think phone batteries are all that great anyway. I'd prefer to have a music player specifically for music.

Well the ipod shuffle I use is small and clips onto my shirt, great for work and the battery usually lasts for a couple days before needing a charge. That leaves me free to use my phone without draining out the battery so quickly ...and no pesky earbud cord hanging out of the top of my phone getting in the way. :P
 
They might if Apple doesn't release the 6th gen iPod Touch. Mine is 2nd gen and still works.
