Could humans really be alone in this expansive universe? And if we're not, how come we've never made contact with other intelligent life? Everyone's thought about it; especially members of the scientific community.

Thoughts?

They now know that there are millions of possible earth like planets which could sustain life.
Finding one is like looking for a very very small needle in a very massive hey stack.
Making contact with one would assume that the 'life' is human like and even if so, assuming that they would be at least equal or more in their development, and would also assume that they too were looking

I don't think it's hard to believe we're not the only living beings in the universe, or some other universe we haven't discovered yet; however, the typical little green men seems rather odd.

there are two thoughts that interest me on this.

1. How amazing would it be if we actually ever discovered some kind of intelligent life out there.

2. How amazing would it be if we actually discovered that we are the only form of intelligent life out there.

I wonder if either of these knowledges would influence our behaviours towards each other on this tiny little planet.

I think that there is probably other life out there in the universe. Earth can't be the only place, I wouldn't think.
