Thoughts on this? Is the customer always right regardless of their own stupidity and/or arrogance?

For those who have worked in the services industry whether it be retail or just involvement with the general public through a professional capacity, what examples have you got where the customer is 100% wrong?

From a logical point of view, the answer is obviously no. Of course, from a business point of view, the customer is always right, regardless of their own stupidity and / or arrogance, just because they have the money and, if you don't play along and stroke their ego, there's a chance they'll get offended and take their money somewhere else, to your competitor, which is not good for your business.

People suck, don't they? :(

No, not to me. When customers were difficult I got a manager.

Some examples of being 100% wrong:
  • Trying to use expired coupons
  • Trying to get cash in a gift card (card expressively states cannot be exchanged for cash)
  • Trying to return an item/items without having a receipt
  • Trying to return an item/items past the 30 day return policy

Generally the customer can get whatever they want if they create drama and cause a scene over not getting what they want. Store managers want to keep disruptions like that to a minimum so they treat the customer like "they're right" and give them whatever they want just to make them shut up and go away.

Not with me they don't, I've pretty much stared down assholes for half an hour until they get the message that they're wrong and should fuck right off.
