Just answering the topic title, yes my dad is a loser. He abused me and my brother growing up and was a major alcoholic.
My father was a successful college professor who wanted nothing to do with me. He was also a closet alcoholic. He had several glasses of whiskey every evening which resulted in him getting really moody. There were times he and his wife would come into my room reeking of booze and bitch at me all night at 1 in the morning.
You showed him, though, grew up to be a wonderful person!Just answering the topic title, yes my dad is a loser. He abused me and my brother growing up and was a major alcoholic.
Aww, thank you!You showed him, though, grew up to be a wonderful person!
...and you're still living with him? That must be rough! My dad is also a loser, he is a massive bigot, he's also emotionally stunted, but then so are most of the members of my family, myself included, so growing up we never got shown what it was to love something (other than him loving himself, being the narcissist he is). His biggest downfall were the countless get rich quick schemes he got himself into. Everything that came along he'd be into and it would cost him a fortune for absolutely nothing. He also cheated on his taxes and outright stopped paying them at one point, because someone told him they were illegal and he went a dove head first into that ridiculous straw man scheme that's been on the go since the 70s. He got his wages taken from him so many times, we wound up living in a hotel three different times growing up, because we lost our home. He isn't as bad now, because he has no control over his own money, but yeah...he's absolutely a loser.
Aww, thank you!
Sadly I have to because of my mother. You can't imagine the difficulty of leading a double-life because of him. He has no idea I'm trans, no idea I'm medically transitioning (though it is very difficult to hide a couple of changes in particular...and you're still living with him? That must be rough!
Sadly I have to because of my mother. You can't imagine the difficulty of leading a double-life because of him. He has no idea I'm trans, no idea I'm medically transitioning (though it is very difficult to hide a couple of changes in particular), and when I'm finally ready to tell him I know precisely what he will say and what will happen. He's a bigot, he hates everyone who isn't his idea of normal, so the second he finds out about me he'll disown me, call me all of the usual names and then sever all ties. I'm fine with that, but I have to wait until my mother no longer needs me, and that means playing a role I hate when he's around, so I only get to be me, the real me, when he's not home.
A little of both, honestly. He can absolutely throw me out if he wants to, I'm an adult living in a house where his name is on all of the documentation, so he could kick me out, but even if he didn't, it would 100% be a hostile environment. We've been down that road before because of his money habits, but this would be a different level.Does he have the power to kick you out of the house if he found out before you wanted him to know? ....or would you just be living in a hostile environment?

That's what I'm living for, that freedom. I just need financial stability and for my mother to no longer need me, then it's my time for me.That sucks! One day he will just be a memory and you'll be living your best life. Just have to hang in there until then!
