I run into people around town that I went to school with or used to work with at other jobs, but that's not really impressive since we all live in the same area.

OK... once upon a time, a long time ago, I was walking late one evening down some side street in the small mountain town of Banff Alberta minding my own business when suddenly above the noise coming from a house party someone shouted at the top of their voice my name.... sure enough there was an old friend at the party I had not seen in years who somehow spotted me.
Ended up at a great party.

That's a great story and a case of being in the right place at the right time.
