Jeff Jarrett's broken a million guitars and he still can't stay relevant!

Which is more evidence that it something besides a sport.

Touch a referee in any other venue and see how it works out for you.
Which was part of what made kayfabe such an integral part of wrestling; once you stepped inside the ring you were fair game and that included the refs.

It was part of the willing suspension of disbelief between wrestlers, promoters and the audience - the audience accepts the things that happens while the wrestlers, etc., put on a show for them. Everyone knows its' not legit, Doc, but its' treated as such for the sake of entertainment and as long as that line isn't breached, everyone enjoys the show. Al Snow said it best, Doc, about wrestling,
To the average fan, they know it's a soap opera, but it's their soap opera, and they're going to be as invested in it as anyone who gets attached to fictional characters they see on TV.

Entertainment and show, yes. And yes, they are athletes.

But it isn't wrestling.

That will take place in Paris in a few weeks. With no musical instruments or folding tables being smashed, and if anybody "bumps a ref" they'll be on plane on their way home before they get supper.

I know; there's a difference between amateur wrestling and what we see in professional wrestling; no one is saying anything different.

My only objection would be that by the time you get to the Olympic level.... you ARE a professional.

That is what you do for a living, your rent is paid by some Voodoo practitioner through a series of glad-handers and the guy that sells former fleet vehicles on that informercial with the Ride of the Valkyries in the background, you haven't paid for your own lunch in years, and you don't have any idea who made your hotel reservations for an out of town meet.

No, he doesn't wear KISS makeup into the ring, and he doesn't have a paid cheerleader in body paint working the crowd, but he is a Professional none the less.

Yeah, the only thing missing being an actual signed contract with cash.

Go check out the rules on "Name, Image, Likeness", in the NCAA, which is likely to be adopted in the US by the Olympic bosses...

They get paid.

I still can't believe someone actually documented the number of ref bumps Slapnuts did.....

What amazes me, @PGen98, is how inventive each of the ref bumps were; its a testament to Jeff Jarrett using every possible way of bumping the ref.
You know, kinda like every time I smash a guitar over @MrDawn's head over in the OT Staff Room.

Dax Harwood (... ...) said it best...."Jeff, you've broken a million guitars and you still can't stay relevant!"
