Killing to Save More?

It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of more [blink:3vk23lhg]innocent[/blink:3vk23lhg]people?

Try again.

Crackpots aren't to innocent and neither is any living 90 year old.

There is no innocence. Everybody KNOWS better.

Hmm sounds sensible

But what about One Planet to 3 Billion people? The Planet itself is one big complex Organism.

This will help me define my villain's psychology.

Okay, so then we subtract one from each person, if nobody is innocent. It is equal playing grounds.. But then I'll pose the same question.

If a 5-year old and 5-90 year olds were both theoretically innocent, or equally innocent, would you still kill the 5-year old?

Does our planet look like one big complex organisms?

Or a fuck load of countries screwing each other over?

So if the scenario was

We were one big complex organism with organs fighting to save their own ass, i would ask how many people are there.

@skillet to answer your question you need to tell me..

What do you remember when you were 5?

How old is the usual living age for people in your world.

A 5 year old theoretically has a full life ahead of them, while the average living age is around 85 here. So these 90 year olds probably don't have much time.

I remember the basics when I was 5, a few days of kintergarden, some of my young friends, living with my grandma for a while. Now let's see what this has to do to compare an almost deceased group of 90-year olds to a 5-year old.

Once again, if you think the value of life is the same.. Let's say I instead used 80 year olds. The average age to live is 85.. So between them, they have approximately 25 years between the 5 of them. The 5 year old has 80 years to go.

That's what makes it so complex

But I think this debate is interesting

Well and all the memories you had when in your life when you were 90.

Let's keep it at 90, don't go soft on me.

Memories are something to be at one with..While a 5 year old has none of them.

You give me an ultimatum.

Kill a 5 year old or 10, 90 year olds.

Morally speaking yes its very wrong to kill a 5 year old but what makes it any better to kill 10, 90 year olds.

So let's consider the fact that we will be killing memories. A life ahead of that 5 year old is something she will never know if she dies, no would she when she grows up remember much of anything when she was five. With a 90 year old you have memories. Memories are what keep the world going.

So kill me for it, but with no emotional attachment it would be MORALLY better to kill a 5 year old than 10, 90 year olds.

Would i do it? No. I would kill myself rather than make that choice.

Looks like you're in a bind. Here's my perspective. Those memories have already been shared with their own family. They will only live a few more years, right? What more will the two years of being old and quite possibly not fully minded anymore make.

This is why I would keep the 5 year old. The 90 year olds HAVE contributed all they will to society, while the 5 year old still has his whole life ahead of him. What if that 5-year old would have became a doctor, or a surgeon, a famous lawyer, a rights advocate, a peace advocator, or even the next President?

Yes, you are right that you will have no memories of what a 5 year old has done.. But nor do you have any of what they could have become.

I'm going offline right away, so this will probably be my last post.

Not all islands have fresh water, especially tropical ones. if it did, it might be hard to find. and if there is fresh water there, you are going to find animals. you can't tell me that you can't make a net to trap like a monkey or something and then eat it.
