Do you allow that l33t sp33k talk on your forums, or Text talk as it's sometimes called? During the times that I have had a forum, and even now with the one that I'm trying to revive, I don't allow it, because not everyone understands that kind of talk. I personally don't understand it. Basic ones like Ty (Thank You) as well as a couple others I know, but I don't know all of them. So I am not allowing that kind of talk on my forum at all. Do you guys allow this talk on your forums, or have you?

Never had a problem where people used it, to be honest. If someone (or me) doesn't understand a post, I just ask them to rephrase.

Abbreviations of words (Such as 'ty', 'kk' etc) I don't like, but I can live with them so long as they're not overused. However, I totally forbid 'L33T SP34K' - it's pathetic, and much easier to type the words properly.

Agreed. If you type out your words and sentences properly, people will have an easier time understanding you and what you're trying to say and things like that. I guess some abbreviations I don't mind, but really, it's best just to say Thank You or Okay instead of Ty or KK.

Abbreviations don't bother me, but leet speak is just annoying and I consider it unnecessary spam.

well i try to make it that it doesn't get too crazy, a simple abbreviation here and there is no big deal but if the whole post is filled with stuff like LOL OMG R u going to the game 2 then i will ask them to speak in a more normal matter so everyone will understand what they are saying (not that my example is hard to understand, it was only an example)

Sure, why not? As long as it is readable, I could care less. Never had slang that bad to the point I couldn't understand it.

That's leetspeak.

Here's the translation.

I don't like people who use elite speak. i find is very frustrating to understand what one person is saying

I think it sounds pretty damn retarded.

I don't see the point in it to be honest. When I was younger and had Headbangers Haven on Proboards (6 years ago) people use to shorten words. ie. ppl, lke, gonna etc. But it got annoying.

If you want to talk like that on a forum, mine is not for you
