Lesbians in South Africa

South Africa is the only African country to have legalised homosexual marriage, and one of only 10 in the world. The constitution specifically forbids discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.

Very few cases of rape against lesbians have ever resulted in convictions.

This just so sickens me. Why even bother to have legalised homosexual marriage in the first place? The constitution specifically forbids discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. It's obvious that the rape against lesbians is not taken seriously and that's why it keeps happening. Unfortunatley, these victims are afraid to speak out and quite frankly, I don't blame them. How very sad that people are hurt and killed just because of their sexual orientation. It's not just South Africa, it happens every day all over the world. Who is anyone to judge these people? Who has the right to tell people who they can or cannot love? Ugh...this will never stop.

Outside pressure and the fact that not everyone feels the same way, no doubt.

No politician would speak in favour of these things, regardless of their personal feelings, therefore anti-homophobic laws can be passed.

Only reason they won't is cause of fear of getting replaced. Which sucks. And this oddly comes to mind.
