What's Your Pick?

Reds, whites, sweet, Rosé, or sparkling?

Spill the grapes and share your favourite! :wine:

I've had this one red wine, Stella Rosa, which is pretty good. A little sweet. I would be curious to see some recommendations for semi-sweet white wines.

When I was a wine drinker, I'm recalling that White Zinfandel was nice. Don't recall any brands; it's called White Zinfandel , but is usually actually a Rosé.

There are many one i can think now is La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti Bricco Quaglia
it is semi sweet and slightly drier ( Sparkling )

Adding this to my list, thanks. I will definitely give updates when I decide to get them.
I haven't bought La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti Bricco Quaglia in a while.
It's priced over $20.
so not sure if this is over your budget

I prefer reds but enjoy a lot of whites, too. Don't drink much, though, just a glass with meals now and then when dining out.

It is, though I have not had it in a while. My last white was a Chardonnay.

An old photo of Riccadonna Asti Ruby Spumante . The bottle may have changed.
I used to enjoy this sweet wine in the past, but I don't have sweet wine often

I usually buy one or another under the general heading of "red / rose", and I use it for cooking moreso than drinking.

And the old chef's line is true: "don't cook with anything you wouldn't drink".

Goes for beer as well.

I used to like red wine a lot, but lately, I've started to enjoy some white wines, especially Pinot Grigio. I still like red wine, but in the past, it was mostly reds.

Well as long as it's not $60 dollars then it's fine. Would hate to shell out the cash and turn around and not like it 🤣
I don't think it'll cost that much, but maybe you won't like it.
People have different tastes.

Lately, I'm not spending a lot I usually go for cheaper wines. Everything costs more now.:(

I don't like wine. Conversation over for me.
I like the taste, but don't "imbibe" because even just a little bit makes me too woozy & off balance. :D

........that reminds me; I really like those little Woo-Zoo fans.

What about wine in the food?

No not in food either and this is the reason. When I was six I had my first communion and when the priest gave me the Eucharist, he also gave me a sip of wine which I spit all over the floor. Never tried wine after that

I got this two to try
Hill Estate Cool Climate Pinot Grigio
One Road Goulburn Valley & King Valley Cabernet Merlot

Okay, the Merlot is a steal at $7.99 from Aldi, but hey, it's not just for sipping it's got a date with my cooking too. ;)
As for the Pinot Grigio, not exactly pocket change, a bit fancier at $16.99
I'm on a mission for more budget friendly wines, steering clear of the high rollers these days.
I'll share how they taste when I try them

One Road Goulburn Valley & King Valley Cabernet Merlot
It's been a while since I tried Merlot. I wanted a wine that wouldn't overpower the dish for cooking. While I expected a more delicate flavour (considering it's been a while since I had one) it turned out a bit too light for my taste. This specific wine isn't the best,:cautious: it's okay for the price I suppose.
I'm thinking of trying a few other brands for comparison.
Merlot, though, remains a good choice for wine beginners.
