Letting misunderstandings go

For you, what is the best way to let a severe misunderstanding issue go?

There is no point dragging hurt and anger through life, so the way is see it is to forgive and get on with it, or walk away and get on with it.
But get on with it either way

If I have exhausted all avenues of trying to correct the misunderstanding and no solution could be found, I simply walk away and forget about it.

Three of them have happened to me in the last two years. But had one in 2003 which was solved two years later though. Long waits are always a healer here.

That was what I tried for one of my recent cases. It was in 2013. But there was one point where she didn't listen. Maybe trying again in Q4 this year or next year might do it.

For you, what is the best way to let a severe misunderstanding issue go?

Try to explain my side thoroughly.  Try to understand things from their perspective.  Usually neither works.  It also depends on the person.  If its someone that I really care about, I might work a little harder at trying to fix things.   If its someone that really isn't worth my time, I probably wont put in that much effort and just shut them off completely.
