Life is too short for risking it in the first place.

That's right, skydivers and bungee-jumpers.

I would say the same as Bluezone. Life is too short to have prejudice.

I also agree with not taking any life-risking gambles. It's good to be adventurous in the sense of trying new foods, seeing new places, meeting new people. Trust me when I say that if you gamble with your life, you will regret it in the end. Life's short enough, why make it even shorter?

No. Wrong. I risk my life every time I get on a bike and I wouldn't change it for the world and I will NEVER regret learning to ride. It is also a risk to walk out your front door and down the street anymore. Are you going to become a hermit to stay safe? Sure, right up until someone breaks into your house and shoots you for your XBox. LIFE is dangerous. You kids are incredibly short-sighted. You have no idea what it means to LIVE, to feel the rush of adrenaline when there is some form of danger, some risk. Until you experience something like that, you haven't lived. Y'all can keep your neat and tidy, safe little worlds. I'd rather feel ALIVE. I'd rather know I took a chance and came out on the other side stronger, tougher, having experienced something besides the mundane, the common, the average.

If you always thought about those things you would not leave your house. The world is indeed dangerous. Probably even more so for the kids who have to grow up in this generation today.

I also believe in venturing out beyond the mundane and going beyond the limits fate has placed upon you. Living your life is a lot different than trying to be a daredevil. I know the value of living as well as you do. Like everyone else, I've fought a lot of battles in life and continue to fight. Life is dangerous, every person young or old knows that, but it doesn't mean you should throw caution to the wind.

I want to say that if you take gambles you will come out a stronger person, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I say that. My experiences in life taught me that. If I was shortsighted, I would have thrown my life away a long time ago. Instead I am here talking to you right now.

I have to say, it's refreshing to see a debate that isn't politically or religiously centered.

I didn't even intend this to be a debate. But of course there has to be something wrong with my perspective.

You consider me a daredevil, FD?

Do I consider you a daredevil? I don't know you to make that assumption. And I never claimed that.

I said specifically: there's a difference between living your life and trying to be a daredevil. Of course by your I am objectively speaking of one's. What part of that statement was directed towards you?

Again, I never said don't risk along the lines of being a little adventurous. In fact I said trying new foods, seeing new places, meeting new people, etc. Those provide learning experiences. I don't see what you could learn from bungee-jumping or throwing yourself into a sharks tank beyond the momentary rush (again - my opinion).

You can't tell people that they will regret it if they take a chance on things, if they run risks. That statement is wrong.

I never claimed it was fact. I was just speaking from personal perspective. Agree with it, disagree with it. Hate it or love it. Don't try to correct me of my own perspective.

I have done those things, and I do not regret a moment of it. I know many people who have done so, and they are also without regret.

And from my experience I know a lot of people who do regret it. Again, a matter of personal perspective.

Even if you take gambles and fail, you still come out a stronger person. You have learned something, and knowledge is power. Wisdom is even more powerful.

That's very true (again it varies on personal experience). My point was not that you don't learn beyond the occasional adventuring beyond your comfort zone. However I personally don't agree with the extreme of that, trying to take extreme risks and extreme gambles. Good things in moderation.

Smooth said:
And pardon my abruptness, but you don't have the first clue about the struggles I have faced.

I don't claim to. And you wouldn't know much about my struggles if you were to call me short-sighted.

I have gambled with my very life.
As have I.
